WPA, CACA and MPA Discussed on Agricultural Biotech Projects

In the early hours of Sept. 6, WPA, CACA and MPA (Movimento dos Pequenos Agricultores, a Brazilian peasant association) convened an online discussion on agricultural biotech initiatives. The meeting was attended by Zhang Qi, Secretary-General of WPA and CACA, Lin Weimin, Director of WPA's Project Management Department, Rodrigo (Brazilian) Deputy Director of WPA’s International Cooperation Department, as well as Frei Sergio and Marcelo from MPA.

Zhang Qi valued and anticipated the two sides’ collaboration. He emphasized that WPA has been dedicated to encouraging agricultural growth and the protection of peasants’ rights and interests, and that MPA has extensive agricultural expertise and accomplishments. Cooperation between the two parties will bring more opportunities for innovation in international agricultural growth.

Frei Sergio and Marcelo presented in depth on agricultural biotech projects in terms of specialty fertilizers, pesticide insecticide technology development, market analysis, feasibility studies, etc. They praised WPA’s accomplishments and stated that MPA is ready to expand its collaboration with WPA to jointly boost agricultural development. They also presented MPA’s efforts in the application of agricultural science and technology, peasant training, as well as specific cooperation objectives.

The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions, and actively talking about agricultural biotech project collaboration forms, project contents and cooperation mechanisms. Zhang Qi commended MPA on launching the agricultural biotech projects. He believes that the operation of this project will assist in lowering production costs, increasing agricultural efficiency, and generating more food production for the benefit of Brazilian peasants.

Through this meeting, the two parties were able to expand their mutual understanding while also boosting their confidence and commitment to working together. It is anticipated that agricultural biotech projects will provide better outcomes and contribute more significantly to the promotion of the sustainable growth of global agriculture with the combined efforts of both parties.
