During the meeting, Secretary General Zhang Qi introduced WPA’s mission and current efforts in promoting global agricultural development. He stated that, as a major agricultural producer, China is dedicated to enhancing agricultural modernization and supporting sustainable agricultural growth. China prioritizes agricultural cooperation and aims to create in-depth interactions with Malaysia to promote agricultural prosperity and development in both countries.

Mohamad Sabu greeted Secretary General Zhang Qi and introduced Malaysia’s current and future agricultural growth. He claimed that Malaysia, located in the tropics, boasts abundant agricultural resources and distinct agricultural advantages, particularly in tropical fruits, rubber, and rice, where it holds a leading position. The Malaysian government is committed to supporting agricultural modernization and transformation, and it aims to expand cooperation with China in fields such as agricultural technology, agricultural product trade, and agricultural investment, achieving mutual benefits and win-win results.

The two sides had in-depth discussions on the current state and future directions of China-Malaysia agricultural cooperation. In terms of agricultural product trade, both parties committed to improve information sharing, enhance market access and mutual recognition of agricultural products, and create a broader market for high-quality agricultural products. To improve agricultural technology and efficiency, the two sides will jointly carry out R&D and promotion of agricultural innovations, as well as boost cooperation in areas such as smart agriculture, water-saving irrigation, and pest and disease control. Additionally, the two sides reached consensus on agricultural investment, talent training, and cultural exchanges, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.
