WPA Visited Cambodia, Working Together for a New Phase of China-Cambodia Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Cooperation

On March 26, Chinese delegation led by WPA Secretary-General Zhang Qi met H.E. Mr. Ky Chanromdoul, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of Cambodia, in Phnom Penh. The meeting aimed to improve China-Cambodia agricultural cooperation by exploring new channels and possibilities for bilateral partnership.

H.E. Mr. Ky Chanromdoul welcomed WPA’s delegation and reviewed the highlights of last year’s 2nd Global Peasant Forum in Guangzhou. During the meeting, he introduced Cambodia's existing agricultural, forestry, and fishing development, as well as peasants’ income and plans. He emphasized Cambodia's distinct advantages and market competitiveness in high-quality agricultural products such as tropical rice, fruits, and rubber. He also revealed Cambodia’s commitment to enhancing development in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, with the goal of collaborating extensively with Chinese enterprises in these fields through international organizations such as WPA, resulting in a more prosperous future in agriculture for both countries.

Secretary-General Zhang Qi expressed deep appreciation for Ky Chanromdoul's warm welcome and described WPA’s goal and exceptional achievements in advancing global agricultural growth. He emphasized that as a non-governmental, non-political worldwide organization, WPA is dedicated to serving global peasants and promoting sustainable agricultural development. He stated that WPA is willing to serve as a bond of agricultural cooperation between China and Cambodia, researching integration, exchanging innovative agricultural techniques and ideas, and working together to forge a bright future for agriculture in both countries.

Both parties had detailed discussions about the current state and future directions of China-Cambodia agricultural cooperation, and they agreed to expand agricultural trade information exchanges and reciprocal market access. They also secured agreements on agricultural investment, talent cultivation, and cultural exchanges, establishing the groundwork for collaboration.

China and Cambodia boast vast potential for cooperation and broad prospects. With international organizations such as WPA, both sides may more efficiently exchange resources, technology, and expertise to address challenges in agricultural development. Looking ahead, we look forward to deepening cooperation between China and Cambodia in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, as well as to jointly launch a new chapter in both countries’ agricultural development.
