World Peasant Association and Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture Deepen Cooperation
WPA’s Special Envoy in the Middle East Region, Dr. Alaa Suleiman Al-Deek, held an important meeting in Ramallah on Dec. 23, 2024 with the Palestinian Minister of Agriculture, Prof. Rizk Salimiya, to discuss ways of enhancing agricultural cooperation.
During the discussion, Special Envoy Al-Deek elaborated on WPA’s development plan, including plans to construct a regional center in Jordan’s capital, Amman. He stated that the action sought to boost agricultural exchanges and collaboration with Middle Eastern countries while also increasing regional agriculture’s growth.
Minister Salimiya expressed his gratitude and stated that the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture is eager to collaborate with WPA to explore new opportunities for collaboration. The two parties also agreed to create a permanent coordination office for WPA at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture to improve collaboration.
Minister Salimiya also outlined a variety of agricultural policies and approaches used by the Palestinian administration in the present scenario. He noted that programs such as the Food and Water Security Initiative, Emergency Interventions, Gaza Relief and Greening Palestine are the current focus of the Ministry of Agriculture and the starting and ending point for the partnership with WPA.
The meeting, which was held in the Minister’s office at the Ministry’s headquarters in Ramallah, was attended by the Undersecretary, Eng. Badr Al-Hawamdeh, the Director General of International, Public Relations and Media, Eng. Mahmoud Fatafta, and the Rapporteur of the Media Committee, Mr. Ahmed Khader.
