WFA (GPO) Assistant Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs Sun Xi Meets with Newly Appointed Charge d'Affaires of Myanmar's Singapore Embassy
On June 4, 2025, Mr. Sun Xi, Assistant Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs of WFA (GPO), convened with H.E. Dr. Zaw Minn Aung, the newly appointed Charge d'Affaires (ambassadorial level) of the Embassy of Myanmar in Singapore.
During this high-level encounter, both parties engaged in comprehensive and in-depth deliberations on multifaceted issues, encompassing the current state of Myanmar's agriculture, the recent seismic disaster, and the ongoing peace process in Myanmar. Mr. Sun Xi earnestly conveyed his profound anticipation for the prompt restoration of peace, stability, and prosperity in Myanmar. He further affirmed that the WFA (GPO) and the Global Summit on Sustainable Agriculture (GSSA) stand ready to extend robust support to the development of Myanmar's agricultural sector.
Expressing sincere appreciation, H.E. Dr. Zaw Minn Aung pledged to proactively promote the involvement of relevant institutions in Myanmar in the upcoming second Summit. Additionally, the Charge d'Affaires voiced the aspiration to host the Summit in Myanmar in the future and warmly extended an invitation to Mr. Sun Xi to organize business delegations of agricultural enterprises for on-site inspections and exchanges in Myanmar.
Preparations for the second GSSA are underway, scheduled to open in Haikou, China, in early December. The 2024 debut summit, held in Singapore, drew over 40 countries’ representatives, including ambassadors and senior diplomats from 39 countries. Singapore’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Industry, Health, and Information and the Arts, H.E. George Yeo, served as the special guest.
