Global Agricultural Exchanges: WPA Secretary General Zhang Qi Leads Chinese Delegation to Visit Malaysia

On March 6th and 7th, the Chinese delegation, under the leadership of WPA Secretary General Zhang Qi, met with Malaysia Fruit Farmers Association (MFFA), Kia Shing Importers & Exporters SDN. BHD. and Melaka Gateway Project representatives. The focus was on agricultural trade and supply chain logistics, with the goal of strengthening Chinese-Malaysian agricultural cooperation and explore new paths for global agricultural growth.

The gathering brought together elites from the agricultural sectors of China and Malaysia. MFFA, a backbone of the country’s agriculture, boasts abundant planting expertise and unique agricultural resources. Kia Shing Importers & Exporters SDN. BHD. is a significant agricultural product importer and exporter in Malaysia, providing strong support for bilateral cooperation in terms of market operations and channel growth. Melaka Gateway, being a major logistics hub, offers wide logistical routes and potential opportunities for agricultural trade.

During the meeting, Mr. Zhang emphasized the importance of communication and cooperation in agriculture in the content of globalization. Malaysia and China have a strong foundation for cooperation and enormous development potential in agriculture. The visit seeks to consolidate and develop the cooperative relationship between the two countries.

Regarding agricultural trade, both countries had extensive conversations about their competitive products, market demands, pricing mechanisms, etc. The Chinese delegation detailed the variety, quality, and market competitiveness of Chinese agricultural products, indicating a keen interest in high-quality agricultural products from Malaysia. The Malaysian side also expressed willingness to enhance trade exchanges, share resources, and reinforce complementary advantages to promote the prosperous development of agricultural trade.

Regarding supply chain logistics, both parties had extensive discussions on optimizing the circulation channels for agricultural products and enhancing the effectiveness of logistics. The Chinese delegation put forth the idea of building a platform for the supply chain of agricultural products to integrate resources from all parties and share information. The Malaysian side accepted this proposal with great appreciation, believing it would increase the competitiveness of agricultural products from both countries in the global market.

The outcome of this meeting was  a consensus between the parties to  improve communication and work together to create a win-win situation in the agricultural field of Malaysia and China. This will not only benefit the welfare of peasants in both countries but also lend wisdom and strength to the global agricultural development.

The agricultural collaboration and exchange between Malaysia and China are seizing new chances in the era of globalization. We believe that, with the joint efforts of both sides, the agricultural cooperation will usher in a better future. Let us anticipate that day and cheers to a more magnificent chapter in China-Malaysia agricultural cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Zhang Guoqing (China), Director of International Cooperation Division, Li Guangcai (Malaysia), Deputy Director of International Cooperation Division, Li Guoqiang, Executive Deputy Director of General Administration Division, and Huang Shengyi, Executive Deputy Director of Personnel Division.
